line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><font color="#000080" style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">- 미국그리스도연합교회(UCC)에서 목사로 사역하고 있다. 어떤 계기로 미국에 오게 되었나.</font><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "> </span><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">아버지가 돌아가신 뒤, 군대에 강제 징집됐다. 그때 신학을 공부해야겠다는 생각이 들었다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">한국기독교장로회 경기노회에서 목사안수를 받았다. 싱가포르에 6년 동안 선교사로 나가있기도 했다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">선교지에 있다 보니, 한국교회의 정치 체제에서 벗어나 있을 수 있었고, </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">그 동안 왜곡된 시대정신이 반영된 신앙에서 벗어날 수 있었다. </span><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">1994년 선교사 활동을 마치고 귀국한 뒤 장인어른이 개척해서 건축까지 마친 곳에서 사역을 하게 됐다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">당시 내가 교회 세습 일순위였던 셈이다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">그때는 ‘세습’이 큰 문제가 되지 않던 시절이었고, 사례도 많지 않았다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">하지만 ‘이건 아닌 것 같다’는 생각이 들어 그만 뒀다. </span><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">자비량 사역을 하고 있는 셈이다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">한번은 ‘내가 하나님한테 생명을 받았는데, 더 받으면 염치없는 일 아닐까’ 하는 생각이 들었다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">그때부터 스쿨버스 운전기사를 하면서 돈을 벌고 있다. </span><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><br style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">나는 스스로 ‘삯꾼’이라고 생각한다. 내가 받은 ‘삯’만큼만 하자는 것이다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">요즘 목사들 중 자기가 받은 ‘삯’만큼도 일하지 않는 목사들이 얼마나 많은가. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">설교 한번하고, 교인들이 사주는 밥 먹으러 다니고 하는 것을 목회로 아는 사람이 너무 많다. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 14px; text-align: justify; ">‘덴노 헤이카 만자이’(천황 폐하 만세)를 외칠 수도 있었고, ‘대한 독립 만세’를 외칠 수도 있었다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">충직한 군인이 됐을 수도 있었고, 쿠데타를 일으킬 수도 있었다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; ">아버지가 일본군에서 빠져나와 독립운동을 하고 반독재투쟁을 하고 죽음에 이르기까지, </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">스스로 그런 삶을 선택하며 결정한 것 같지 않다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">아버지는 역사가 이끄는 대로 가신 것이다. 그리고 ‘희생’의 삶을 받아들인 것뿐이다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">그 삶을 받아들일 수 있었던 것은 ‘신앙’ 때문이라고 생각한다. ‘신앙’을 통한 ‘희생’ 없이는 살아갈 수 있는 삶이 아니다.</span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">한국 사회에는 ‘나서지 않고 지도자에 빌붙으면 잘 살 수 있다’는 시대정신이 있는 것 같다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">아버지는 그 시대정신에 기생하는 독재자, 지도자들과 싸운 것이다.</span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; "><br></span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">문제는 이런 시대정신이 교회와 신앙에도 영향을 미쳤다. 대표적 예가 국가조찬기도회다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">지도자에게 빌붙어 아부하면 잘 살게 된다는 것이 역사가 남겨준 교훈이다. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">교회도 그것을 배운 셈이다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">그 결과 한쪽은 축복을 빌어주는 지도자를 향한 맹목적 믿음을 보여줬고, 다른 한쪽은 현실과 신앙을 등진 채 살아갔다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; text-align: justify; ">우리 시대 젊은이들은 제단 위의 제물이 되기보다, 그 제물을 먹고 싶어 하는 것 같다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left; "><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; text-align: justify; ">하지만, 하나님이 우리가 살아가길 원하는 모습은 어떤 삶일까 생각해봐야 한다. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;
