수 있는 건, 역시 우리가 ‘전제’를 공유하고 있기 때문이다. 일본의 로봇 애니메이션을 단 한 번도 본 적 없는 시청자에게 불쑥 <별의 목소리>를 들이밀면, ‘왜 고교생이 전쟁에 나가야만 해?’, ‘왜 인간형 병기로 싸워야만 하지?’ 등의 의문에 휩싸여 제대로 감상할 수 없게 될 것이라 생각한다. 오타쿠들이 공유하는 공통 전제, 약속된 패턴들 안에서 모에!”라고 자기언급적으로 말하듯이, 에반게리온 이후 또 하나의(그리고 주요한) 흐름인 ‘모에’라는 형식에도 충실하다. 이 시리즈에서 가장 인기 있는 나가토 유키라는 캐릭터는 명백하게 <에반게리온> 아야나미 레이의 계보를 계승한 존재다. … 또한 《최종병기 그녀》 등의 포스트 에반게리온 작품군에서 두드러지게 보이는 ‘이야기 소비의 배제’를 《하루히》에서도
