line-height: 1.5">뽀로로가 해외에서 각광 받을 가능성이 있는 것이지 각광을 받고 있는 것은 아닙니다. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">기자분들이 좋아하는 그런 게 있어요. "뽀로로가 뭐 130개국에..." 이런 말 좋아하잖아요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그런데 해외에 갔다 와 보니까 의외로 되게 힘들더라고요.</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5"><br /></span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px"> 물론, 시청률은 프랑스가 한국보다 더 좋았고 딱 조사를 해보면 그 나라에서 5위 안에는 들어가요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">티에프라는 방송국의 아동프로그램 기록에 보면 시청율이 아닌 시청 점유율 57% 이렇게 나오고 그랬는데, </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">어찌 됐던지 그렇게 갔는데도 그다음 허들을 넘는 것이 또 숙제로 남아있어요.</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><br /></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px">그러니까 우리는 가끔 "글로벌"하면 막 "여러 나라" 이렇게 바라보고 있는데, </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그런 것이 아니라 굉장히 실효적인 것을 봐야 할 것 같아요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그러니까 똑똑한 나라 한 나라를 개척하는 것이 명분 쌓기로 130개국 뭐 이렇게 가는 것보다 훨씬 중요하다고 봐요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">물론 진짜 오래 걸리는 일이에요. 산업이 다른 나라에 가서 안착이 돼서 상업적으로 부가가치를 만들어내는 일은, </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">보통 애니메이션은 8년 정도 걸린다고 합니다. 지금 뽀로로가 해외 진출한 지 7~8년 됐으니까 이제 이익을 기다리는 중이에요.</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><br /></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px"> 어쨌든 그런 허와 실이 분명히 있는 것이고, 두 번째로 마케팅 물어보셨는데, </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">우리가 알고 있었던 유일한 마케팅은 좋은 것을 만들어서 가지고 가는 것밖에 없었어요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">뽀로로 만들고 나서 언제가 제일 성공한 것 같았는 줄 아세요? </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">뭐... EBS시청율 1등? 너무너무 기뻤죠. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">완구 상품이 100가지가 나온대, 수익이 500억쯤 돌파했대, 무슨 50개 나라에 수출됐대... </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">제가 모두 다 처음 느껴본 것이었어요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">어떻게 보면 이러이러한 전략이 있어서 뽀로로를 만들고 사업을 한 것이 아니라, </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">뽀로로를 하면서 사업을 배운 것이에요. 저는. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그런데 3년 차 되는 때부터 어느 날 편지가 왔어요. 팬레터죠.ㅎㅎ </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">물론 그 편지는 대부분 부모님이 보내는 거예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">내용은 "설거지를 편하게 할 수 있게 해주셔서 감사합니다." </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">또 "한 뽀로로 백 아빠 안 부럽다!" ㅎㅎㅎ</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><br /></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px"> 심지어 해외에서도 팬레터가 와요. 그것도 굉장히 많이. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">해외에서 교포 2세가 3세를 낳았어요. 그 부모들한테서 "한국어를 가르쳐주셔서 감사합니다."라고 편지가 와요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그런데 교포 1세가 2세를 낳았을 때, 우리 또래가 1.5세대 또는 2세대에요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그때 막 이민들을 갔는데 그때는 정말 웃겼어요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">이민 간 한국 애들이 방학 때 한국에 와서는 한국어 못하는 게 벼슬이었어요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">왜냐하면 그때 처음 간 부모들은 우리나라가 너무 마이너리티였던 거에요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그래서 엘리자베스처럼 안 생겼는데 엘리자베스로 이름을 짓고, </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">리처드처럼 안 생겼는데 리처드라고 이름을 지었어요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">왜냐하면 튀지 말고 그냥 거기서 이인자로 묻어서 놀림받지 말라고. 이게 우리 이민사회 1세대의 현실이에요.</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5"><br /></span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px"> 그러니까 아이가 한국어 하는 것을 무지 말렸던 거예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그런데 요새 어떤 현상이 일어났느냐면 대치동에 5살쯤 되면 3세대들이 한국어 유학을 와요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">왜 그렇게 된 거냐면 이제 여기가 글로벌한 곳이기 때문이에요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그리고 미국에서 태어난 한국 사람이 한국 사람의 아이덴티티를 가지고 </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">한국을 기반으로 글로벌해지는 것이 더욱 글로벌해질 수 있다는 것을 아는 거예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">정말 달라졌죠. 이제 심지어는 한국 이름까지도 드문드문 짓기 시작했데요</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><br /></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px"> 이게 뽀로로 에피소드가 5분짜리로 200~300편 있잖아요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">애들은 이것을 100번 200번 계속 반복해서 봐요. 그걸 좋아하고. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그런데 미국에 있어도 이 비디오로 돌 지난 애부터 대여섯 살까지 보면 </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">한국말을 어느 정도 하는 거예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">제가 의외의 직업이 하나 있는데, 제가 한국어 홍보대사예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">한국어를 누구한테 홍보하겠어요. 우리 애들한테 홍보해야지</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><br /></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px"> 하여튼 바로 그것, 분명히 돈 주고 샀는데 "고맙습니다." 라는 편지를 쓰잖아요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">이 느낌은 제가 사업해보면서 제일 느낌이 있었던 거예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">아마 모르긴 몰라도 "사업의 정점은 그런 데에 있지 않나." 라는 생각이 들어요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그러니까 결론은, 우리는 그것을 정말로 아이들을 위해서 자신 있게 만든 거예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">우리가 알고있는 마케팅 방법은 우리가 자신있는 것을 </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">제일 싼 이코노미 클래스 사가지고 바리바리 싸들고, </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그 프랑스 깐느라는 마켓에 가서 그냥 보여주고 "이것이 좋냐? 안좋냐?" 이거밖에 없었던 거예요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">우리가 무슨 콘텐츠를 해외에 10년 전에 팔아봤겠어요. </span><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5">그러니까 아까 말씀드린 데로 그냥 한 게 맞는 거예요</span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5"><br /></span></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><br /></p> <p style="font-family: 나눔고딕, NG; margin: 0px"><br /></p></div></div>
