0px;line-height:inherit;">1972년 10월 17일 유신 선포를 계기로 학생운동에 뛰어들었다. 그는 유신 선포로 휴교령이 내려지자 고향 청양에 내려왔는데 아버지가 "나라가 이모양인데 학생들이 데모도 하지 않느냐"며 질책을 받고 바로 상경하여 학생운동 써클에 가입했다고 한다. 어려운 환경에서 그는 직접 막노동을 하며 생계와 학비를 마련해 투옥되어 1년을 복역하고 출소했다. 이후 이해찬은 생계를 위해 무역회사에 다니기도 하고 동아일보에서 해직된 기자들이 차린 번역실에서 번역을 하기도 했으며 엠네스티 한국지부 상근자로 일하다 평소 관심이 많던 출판일을 익히려고 범우사에서 일하기도 했다. <a target="_blank"
