1. saying (from Fellowship of the ring)

Frodo : It's pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance.

Gandalf : Pity? It was pity that stay bilbo's hand.
Many that live deserve death and some that die deserve life.
Can you give it to them, Frodo?
Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement.
Even the very wise can not see all ends.
My heart tells me that Gollum has a part to play yet for good or ill before this is over.
The pity of bilbo may rule the fate to many.

Frodo : I wish the ring had never come to me.
I wish that none of this had happened.

Gandalf : So do all who live to see such a times
But that is not for them to decide.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
There are other forces at work in this world Frode besides the will of evil.
Bilbo was meant to find the ring in which case you also were meant to have it.
And that is an encouraging thought.

Frodo : I can't do this, Sam.

Sam : I know. It's all wrong.
By rights we shouldn't even be here.
But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr.Frodo.
The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were.
And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could end be happy.
How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened.
But in the end it's only a passing thing.
The shadow even darkness must pass. A new day will come.
And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.
Those were the stories that stayed with you that meant something even if you were too small to understand why.
But I think, Mr.Frodo. I do understand. I know now.
Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going.
Because they were holding on to something.

Frodo : What do we holding on to, Sam?

Sam : There is some good(?) in this world, Mr.Frodo and it's worth fighting for.

Faramir : I think at last we understand one another, Frodo Baggins.

Madril: You know the laws of our country, the laws of your father.
If you let them go your life will be forfeit.

Faramir: Then it is forfeit. Release them.





4. saying (from Return of the king)

Smeagol : They cursed us. "Murderer" they called us.
They cursed us and drove us away.
Gollum! Gollum! Gollum!
And we wept, precious. We wept to be so alone.
We forgot the taste of bread, the sound of trees, the softness of the wind.

It will be spring soon.
And the orchard will be in blossom,
and the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket,
and they'll be sowing the summer barlely in the lower fields,
and eating the first of the strawberries with cream.
Do you remember the taste of the strawberries.

Frodo : No Sam. I can't recall the taste of food,
neither sound of water, nor touch of grass.
I'm naked in the dark.
There is, there is nothing, no veil between me and wheel of fire!
I can see him with my waking eyes!

Sam : Then let us be rid of it once and for all.
Come on Mr.Frodo.
I can't carry it for you.

Sam : Frodo!

Frodo : I'm here Sam.

Sam : Destroy it! Go on now! Throw it in the fire!
What are you waiting for? Just let it go!

Frodo : The ring is mine.

Sam : No. No. No!

(after Gollum take the ring from Frodo)

Gollum : Yes! Yes! Precious! Precious! Precious! Precious!

(after Gollum fall into the magma and Frodo almost fall)

Sam : Give me your hand. Take my hand. No! Don't you let go. Don't let go. Reach!

(after the ring and the Sauron are destroyed)

Frodo : It's gone. It's done.

Sam : Yes, Mr.Frodo. It's over now.

Frodo : I can see the Shire, and Brandywine river, Backend,
Gandalf's fire works, the lights in the party tree.

Sam : Rosie Cotton dancing. She had ribbons in her hair.
If ever I was to marry someone it would've been to her. It would've been to her.

Frodo : I'm glad to be with you, Sam Wise Gamgee, here at the end of all things.





11. saying (from Return of the king)

Frodo : How do you pick up the threads of an old life.
How do you go on when in your heart you begin to understand there is no going back.
There are some things that time cannot mend.
Some hurts that go too deep that have been taken hold.

Sam : Mr. Frodo, What is it?

Frodo : It's been four years to the day since Weathertop, Sam. It's never really healed.

Sam : 'There and Back again, a Hobbit's Tale by Bilbo Baggins'
and 'The Lord of the Rings by Frodo Baggins.' You finished it.

Frodo : Not quite. There's room for a little more.

Elrond : The sea calls us home.

Bilbo : I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Gandalf : Farewell, my brave hobbits. My work is now finished.
Here at last on the shores of the sea comes the end of our friendship.
I will not say 'Do not weep' for not all tears are an evil.
It is time, Frodo.

Sam : What does he mean?

Frodo : We set out to save the Shire, Sam. And it has been saved. But not for me.

Sam : You don't mean that. You can't leave.
