"><br style="font-size: 10.5pt !important; ">8일 <오마이뉴스>는 평화박물관 측과 일본의 한 인사가 맺은 평화박물관 매각에 따른 각서를 단독으로 확인했다. 지난달 30일 도쿄에서 작성된 '각서'는 한글과 일본어로 2페이지로 구성되어 있다. 각서의 주 내용은 ▲평화박물관의 자산을 일본 측이 직접 매입하거나 대행할 수 있고 ▲일본 측은 평화박물관의 경제적 어려움 해소는 물론 충분한 보상을 보장한다는 것이다. <br style="font-size: 10.5pt !important; "><br style="font-size: 10.5pt !important; ">특히 각서에는 ▲평화박물관 측은 일본 측이 요청하면 평화박물관이 보유하고 있는 가마오름 동굴진지를 유네스코 지정 세계문화유산(전쟁유산)으로 등록하는 데 적극 협조하여야 한다는 내용도 포함돼 있다. 한국 정부가 사실상 외면하고 있는 가마오름 동굴진지를 일본은 세계문화유산 전쟁유산 부문으로 등록을 추진하겠다는 것이다.<br style="font-size: 10.5pt !important; ">평화박물관은 이영근 관장이 자신의 전 재산은 물론 은행빚까지 내어 약 75억 원을 들여 일본군이 지하 3층 구조, 총 2km 길이로 만들었던 지하요새인 가마오름 진지를 복원해 지난 2004년 2월 개관했다. 태평양전쟁이 끝나갈 무렵엔 이 가마오름 진지 일대에 일본군 제58군 소속 111사단 병력 약 5000명이 주둔했다. <br style="font-size: 10.5pt !important; "><br style="font-size: 10.5pt !important; ">이 관장은 일본군이 이 진지 구축을 위해 강제징용한 아버지의 한을 풀고, 일본의 침략역사를 일깨우겠다며 가마오름 일본진지를 복원했다. 이외에도 평화박물관엔 조선총독부 정보과가 발행했던 <조선통보> 등 희귀한 일제시대 역사유물 2000여 점도 전시돼 있다. <br style="font-size: 10.5pt !important;
